Why did you select the image?
I selected the image of the cork chairs from the line and shape unit because of its interesting use of light. The way the light reflects off of the walls, surrounding objects, and wire chandelier itself creates intrigue and the shadows contrast this.
What edits did you have to make?
For the photo of Abby from the portrait unit, I made edits mainly to exposure, contrast, and levels. The shadow from the studio light was at times too intense and dark or vice versa. To fix this I adjusted the levels and made the darks less dark and the lights less light without making the photo gray. I again evened this out in exposure and contrast. Lastly, I put the photo in black and white to create a dramatic effect.
What compositional considerations did you make?
In the photo of the barbershop-looking playground toy from the playground and powerlines unit the composition was pristine. Not only does that toy lie on the left vertical third but horizontally the foreground and background are obvious.
Are there any technical aspects that make the image unique?
The long exposure used in the swirl picture from painting with light allowed for a unique affect. Without both the darkness and this effect the photo would not be able to make the affect it did.
